JoosTherdin

Back in public. What's up?

A project.

Yes, all instrumental ditties folks for the first time on Spotify. Songs from 2000 till around 2016, some have never been released (!) The idea behind this project was the demand in instrumental music for video makers, background music purposes. A few have been used through the years.

First released in 2014, next to my regular releases.

So another name for this pure instrumental stuff and no, no artist name either:

JoosTherdin (Dinther is my last name so I shuffled with it a bit)

For the new regular release, you don't have to wait that long anymore either, as it will be released in June I hope. A video is in the works. Very excited about it all, of course! Updates will follow.

Here are the links to the first volume of For Your Pleasure (a title I've chosen as a tribute to my favourite Roxy Music's 1973 album):

For Your Pleasure Vol....6

   and without my voice

About this album

This is music especially for those video/docu/makers, searching for background music. Colouring their images with Vol.6 in the FYP series, takes you on a groovy, exotic ride from one wave to another. Upbeat, breezy and sometimes dreamy, melancholic instrumentals. Hypnotic dancing allowed! All conceived (written, played, arranged, recorded, mixed and mastered by JoosTVD) in my tiny homestudio. Mixing/mastering: Pro Tools, Apollo Twin Quad and Ozon 8 Mastersuite.
Have fun!

A Doll's Repaint video & Stiffy hips

Hai there! Pfff, it's hot and sweaty up here....I guess it's sticky everywhere in Europe, except for a few welcome showers in between. Just got home from a  much needed holiday in Prague. Beautiful, picturesque city, but the heat, smokers and the tourists were almost too much to bare. I've enjoyed it anyway. Musically as I'm recharging my batteries for the next bunch of songs, I usually use my time to see what's happening with my songs. Luckily I've especially released a few instrumental albums through these last years and even a few of my vocal songs have been used by some fervent videomakers. Now, through my network, some guy/ girl from Dollumentary ("I’m a novice OOAK doll repainter") contacted me via the Reddit community. He/ she liked my songs and voila:

Songs used:
Lovetown Guru
Do It Again
Live It Up

DJ Craig Charles (of BBC6 Funk And Soul Show) put my song "Not Now" on his DJ chartslist + here (whatever that means). All funky, hypnotic songs to move your stiffie hips.
Thanks for playing!

For Your Pleasure..on Bandcamp

You know Bandcamp, yes? Streamable and fun to use and to discover under and above radar music. Next to my regular JoosTVD profile I have now created a second one: JoosTVD2, his instrumental twin. Already featured as licenses on Jamendo, it's all about spreading these groovy vibes even more. Curious videomakers will surely find something that can fit their tasty frames. Move your pictures.
Get hooked then, oi!

For Your Pleasure...5

Yes, here's the 5th one in the series just after the 4th. It's for you videomakers, who need a few fitting tunes to enhance their moving pictures. Potential listeners can enjoy the grooves and melodies of course...if you don't like my voice, haha. Couldn't wait for another instrumental album (only released on Jamendo folks!), just before my regular album "Just Say kNOw" comes out (sooner than I think). Really? That makes two instrumental albums en one vocal album in 2018.
No, no, no really... it's all about quality! It's just that I've been kicked around too long by these songs, begging me to let them out. Now you can play them. Need vocals on them tunes? In about week!

For Your Pleasure....4

Next to my regular (vocal) albums, I've always got a few other fitting tunes to offer as a license. To use as background music for example. Jamendo is a wellknown platform for this with a world-wide network.
This album consists only existing songs from "Lightning Dutchman [2015]", remixed and remastered only as instrumental tracks. Vol 5 and ... 6... will be next...this year.

4th (mostly all) instrumental album only available on Jamendo. Especially for those who need some supporting music (videomakers and advertising folks) to promote their stuff. Your images will never sound better! The songs have a streetvibe in them with the familiar themes, like danger, paranoia, crowded, fighting, busy. You can expect a lot of irresitable grooves (latinesque, funky) and tuneful melodies on top of them.

For Your Pleasure Vol.3

The summer fever is blowing my top!

Update.
Inbetween regular albums I also keep myself busy with compiling instrumental stuff from the past.
The goal is to reach out to all of those multi-media projects that are flowing around, waiting for a soundbit to cheer them up.
It has become some kind of a tradtion, hence the addition of volume 3 in the title, which was originally inspired by my favourite album by Roxy Music.
For me an opportunity to rework/ revisit old ideas, some with, some without vocals. Some I only had to remaster. This time I even went back as far as the year 2000. Both "Master Of Mystery" and "Blackout" are from the never before released (online that is) "Thanks For Stopping By" album of that year, so these are the original versions with only a finishing remaster touch. Some have never been released instrumentals that originally were planned for vocal versions (recorded between 2002-2009), like "Funk Da Junk", "Low On Da Flow" and "Sniff Da Riff", a threesome locked together by the word "Da".
Really relaxing fun for me to do something different productionwise, because at the same time I can recharge my batteries for the new stuff, that need to breath, need nursing and motivation to finish them (off). I'm in the "I need lyrics" phase now.

Snippets of the regular, official albums

By the way, I have tons of recordings waiting for a place on the web, also more newer stuff for the next volume 4, 5, 6 amd what the heck, 7, 8, 9....

These instrumental albums I only share on Jamendo, where various stuff has already been picked up by a few videomakers for their projects.

So, what does it sound like?

Well search for tags like:
trippy, groovy, sexy, funky, orchestral, busy, cool, mellow, intense, cinematic, funny, carnavalesque, dreamy, smooth, dancable, freaky, fast, hyper, hypnotic, circuslike, latinesque, melodic, fustrating.......

So there they are:

Hula Hoops in the desert

Found a very smooth and short video today. How did she do that?
Nice flow of dizziness in the desert!

For Your Pleasure...Vol.2!

Just arrived! 22 instrumental songs, only available on Jamendo for now. Especially for video-projects and the like. And easy on the ears, heart, knees, mind and feet. So take them, they are yours.
Sort of an inbetweenie (refreshing for me to work on too!), For Your Pleasure Vol.2 is an ongoing series. Enough material for more pleasure.
My next "straight" album will arrive somewhere... in 2016.

During the process I noticed- by the flow and mostly beachy, summer mood- a little story was evolving while sequeing the songs. A concept? A Hitchcock/ Orson Welles mystery perhaps? Well, let's imagine....
Here's a little storyline I came up with (while listening) for a yet to be made or not to be made movie:

this reckless spy, once a successful operator, has to escape into his silhouette. Now older, washed up, stranded somewhere on a desolate beach, meeting the good (romance), the bad (no cash) & the ugly (fake romance) and getting away with it (with that "Moon Elevator") and finally steps out of his shadow.

For Your Pleasure!

Is this the new album? Naaah...just an in betweenie. All instrumental. Short songs. All kinds of moods. Just listen and get in the mood. Yeah. The real new album will arrive somewhere early 2015. Yeah. Dig.
