I was not planning to make another promo as I'm a musician first. but then... I stumbled on some instagram effects to enhance your selfies! Well that did the trick and as you can see, it's all over this video. I know, I'm aware that I'm getting old and ugly, so in the future I will not overdo this anymore.
I've just had a lot of fun writing, playing and recording this upbeat track "City Of The Mirrorballs" that I could not resist producing a promo around it. I even went so far as to use a frame for the front and back cover for the new album, Sand In My Shoes.
Hope you like it, don't get lost in the trance of the mirrorball!
To wet your appetite further, to get you involved with the new stuff, I want you to....behave. Well sort of. Second promo from the new album of JoosTVD: "The Fly On The Wall Routine", release 30th april 2019.
As a former drummer, I am always inspired by rhythm patterns from all
over the world. There'a a syncopatic afro/latin-funk beat that's inspired
this song. All the harmonies in the chorus are afro inspired.
Instrumental arrangements, like the piano motives are more latinesque.
Think "Talking Heads" Remain in Light's hypnotic feel. The lyrics: they
have a serious and self-reflecting side: how to "behave' normally these
days. Sing along! ("hey ya hey ya nanana") Behave...just like I do!
Watch promo 2:
Behave [Lyris/ Music: JoosTVD]
Larry likes to scream for hours
Fergie likes to eat the flowers
(Hey ya hey nanana)
There's a fire in my kitchen
A little murder on the floor
Nothing beats this witching anymore
I can't control my urges
Life's too easy in my court
And after all these purges I get bored
As long as you behave
(As long as you behave just like I do
And if you won't behave than I won't too)
Nothing will be happening to you
Behave just like I do I do
Hey ya hey ya nanana
Hey ya hey ya nanana
Hey ya hey ya nanana
Nothing will be happening to you
Hey ya hey ya nanana
Hey ya hey ya nanana
Hey ya hey ya nanana hey!
I see a bubble when you babble
The struggle when you slip
Who cares about the hassle when you're hip?
You cannot lose your temper
So you better sell your soul
And you can love me tender
Or not at all
As long as you behave
(As long as you behave just like I do
And if you won't behave than I won't too)
Nothing will be happening to you
Behave just like I do I do
Fergie likes to eat the flowers
Larry likes to scream for hours
Let me walk you through the papers
Maybe if I see you later
Hey ya hey ya nanana
(Hey hey hey)
Hey ya hey ya nanana
(Hey hey hey)
Hey ya hey ya nanana
Let me walk you through the papers
Hey ya hey ya nanana
(Hey hey hey)
Hey ya hey ya nanana
(Hey hey hey)
Hey ya hey ya nanana
Maybe if I see you later
Next: Released "The Fly On The Wall Routine" And Where?
What a nice suprise from the south. Belgium that is. Yes, Belgium is gonna win the WK of 2018 of course!Didn't expect this one either.I'm just humbled by these words.Another review will get me going! Thank you Lambert Smits and Marino Serdons from 'Keys and Chords', a belgian online music magazine. And no, I didn't bribe them! Namedropping? Zappa, Rundgren, Protheroe (yes what's in a name!)
Dutch:
"Surprise, surprise, funky music vanuit buurland Nederland. Luister maar eens naar opener 'Not Now' of 'The Vanished Romeo': elektronica zoals Todd Rundgren, xylofoon nals Frank Zappa.
Beautiful album from The Vanished Dutchman Joost. Strong funky grooves with Zappa-tesque influences, but also melancholy and a lot of fun. A wonderful discovery. Marino Serdons
Vanished in Belgium
English: Surprise, surprise, funky music from neighboring Netherlands. JoosTVD, Joos The vanished Dutchman, has been delivering one unique digital album after another since 2005. Chapeau for this einzelganger: writes, composes and plays all music itself. Arranges, mixed and mastered his own brews into a beautiful whole. This is also the case with his latest member 'Just Say kNOw'. The album splashes with funky grooves and regularly reminds of the late Frank Zappa, a master of complex yet understandable structures. Listen to opener 'Not Now' or 'The Vanished Romeo': electronics such as Todd Rundgren, xylophone and Frank Zappa. Is there a full orchestra at work here? No, this is JoosTVD on note. Like no other he knows how to deliver a compelling groove to a song. Due to the complexity, you will continue to listen fascinated, again and again. He also likes funny intermezzos such as in the theatrical 'My Cat Is Stoned' (in which Brian Protheroe was also a boulder). Airy! Who might doubt: Tom Robinson regularly picks up songs for his BBC6 Shows. 'Just say kNOw' has become an incredibly cool album that calls for a physical carrier such as vinyl. Digital to listen to naturally via the well-known channels Spotify, Deezer, etc. '

Once in a while I add one of my songs to a playlist on Spotify and sometimes someone opens his ears for it. This time it was a playlist from Kahsay, a swedish musician, who wrote a few nice words for this song from my 2015 album "Lightning Dutchman". Thank U Kahsay from a fellow musician.
Have a nice weekend every1. Stay humble.....
"I have an collaborative playlist and been promoting that on different occasions and when I scrolled that playlist
a song popped out and hit my ears. It' s a dutch songwriter that
creates fantastic soundscapes in the area of funk, jazz and soul. I was
blown away by the fantastic groove in the song "Don't Do It Again". Give him a listen. He's about to release an album in 2018. I'm looking forward to hear that album."
