Zoo Or Zen
Hai there! I've got this song "Zoo Or Zen", which features as the last(!) song on my new album "196Tree". Well, the strange thing is that it is the most popular song on Spotify... and I guess elsewhere! On Spanish radio too. Can someone translate this DJ at around 1.31.40?
Well, google translate "helped" a bit:
"Warning for the listeners: we enter 1 of the strangest segments of the program, rare sounds, which fit well with the most traditional music. A song from Joostvd from his new album 196trree. Real madness of the progressive funk in quotation marks. It is an album that I certainly only recommend to the most adventurous, since the songs get crazier and crazier. Wise Men
On da radio. Always excitement. Yesterday evening between 21-23 O'clock, but you can still listen back to the bluesy sounds of "Bluestown Radio"- after the son of Bobby Bland, Rodd, by the way- HERE for a whole week. They chose 'Wise Men' and at first I thought "that ain't no blues!", but it fitted somehow. I always wonder how songs work on the radio, because in my experience, if you isolate a track, it always comes out different. The same goes for movies and soundtracks. Do they stand on their own? Well often, mostly not.

Hai folks. Hot summer. I'm deep into creating again! Yes right, and although I'm officially vanished (because I want some privacy), sometimes some positive news comes up that I have to share. The whole album on air
Radio is still important you know. Exposure is far greater than one spotify play by one listener. You can reach far more people. This next radio station has played my last album "Sagitario" all through 2017! Now I've this worldwide premiere, because my new album will be released only two weeks from now. Attention Pulease!
This post will be updated, constantly.
So I've this record out, thinking, how about some promotion? That's not me, I am just a bloody musician with an "eclectic' taste. So it's not gonna be easy, even though the possibilities are wider and deeper these days. A lot of those hipsters fold (radio stations, blogspots) or change their policies (soundcloud). Luckily a simple google search can help filter the old from the new. (Online) radio is still important. It's a flat digital earth now. You can always pay for a play, but that doesn't count in my opinion. And don't forget the writers. Reviews help spread the news even more!
I've had a few and more songs on Croydon radio in rotation, but they stopped playing "under the radar" artists. Well they stopped. And there are so many......talents. Where to go now...?
So I've sent my music to other online radios and online magazins, because there are so many more!
The list will be endless, I hope.

German Blues radio
I really liked radio as a kid. I don't listen often now, but this evening at 8 o'clock I'll be listening. Here is Radio Eins Not only I'll be on the playlist (he started the program with Unscrew Yourself), but some of my favourite great bluesplayers and singers are there too.
It's that german journalist Nathan that has added me on the playlist. He has already written some great reviews in his online Art/ Music magazine Wasser Prawda on my albums (like I Mimic Me [2014], The Ballooning Brouhaha [2013], Art Decoy The Bluebeard Boy [2012], Orson Nietes [2011], The Vanished Dutchman [2010] in the past. His review on my new album will come later this week. Wow, looking forward to this! Tune in, drop out!

Paycheck!

Ok, sometimes I'm so deep down digging in my musical cave, I don't even know where the entrance was. Too pre-occupied with the nice moments of inspiration maybe, but on the other hand I am a compassionate familyman for the full 101%.
So to answer those obvious questions:
1. I'm "always" writing, playing, noodling, even at night, a burst of silent energy has to be written down in words. Kicks all around! The new music is very groovy, funky, slick and dirty, I can't stop this hypnosis.
I can relax a bit. See picture: a few weeks back I found out I've earned a "few" bucks on licenses at Jamendo. More than I could have imagined!
Since I've been distributing my music on Jamendo, a lot of people have listened to my stuff and even more effectively, have used it as background music for their benefit, like public places, projects, restaurants and more.
It's about being played. Streaming is not that profitable now for artists maybe, but it will, because more and more people do that. Downloading (piracy, iTunes) is outa here!
Radioplays are the best way reach more people. As you know Croydon radio (suburb London) has been playing my songs (playlisted) almost every week since the beginning of 2013. (Brouhaha, Stupid Song(s), The Route Through The Quiet Jungle, Talkwalk, Trip Together, The Root Of My Belly, Alice Tea, I See You, Cowboy On The Moon, Social Suicide have been played on various radioshows). Here's the list of the most played 499 artists on Croydon (I am on number 10!)

2.Try to make a nice fitting video, well it's a difficult thing to do that yourself as an amateur. Even though I'm not a professional with the best movie editing skills, I can still see all those nice little drawings I spontaniously scribbled down (Scribbles) a few months ago, come together more and more as I flesh out all the tiny, little details in those moving frames. All it needs a bit more time and... time is the healer.

Don't Mind The German Blues
Well, I had a lot of ear pleasing fun yesterday evening. It was melting hot, but that didn't bother me at all. I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for that airplay Nathan had promised me.
Nathan Norgel (Bluespfaffe) is a german journalist who in 2010 discovered JoosTVD on Jamendo and gave such a rave review of my album "The Vanished Dutchman", that I had to read it over and over again to believe it was for real. Ok, my german knowledge is not as high-standard to understand it all, but that was because his use of words were not standard. Here's a journalist at work and I guess he must know his trade and that pleased me even more. Since then, he has reviewed every single album I've thrown on www for his cultural internet magazine Wasser-Prada. His favourite music genre is- I guess Blues- but with a lot of different styles (soul, funk, rock, R&B) dipping in the mix.
Ok, ok, settle down, life goes on. I've got a few more songs in the can. Maybe I'll try to do a german version of JoosTVD: der Verschwundenen Dutchman. Freunde, bis zum nächsten mal!
